My interview at SLT

I applied for the post of System operators at Sri Lanka Telecom(SLT) in the end of February. In the middle of March I got a letter from SLT saying that I have been selected for the first interview. When I saw this I was really happy and also was overjoyed. It is because I really really wanted to join SLT and was thinking I can't get it buy now. But when I saw the letter I was at the top of happiness. The Interview was on the 26th of March. On the 25th of March I got my Diploma Certificate from SLIIT as that was basic requirement they looked for. On the 25th evening my best friend helped me to get my certificate arranged in a proper manner to take it for the interview the next day.

On the 26th morning I got up early in the morning and was so tensed. I got ready by 8.45. The interview was at 9.30 at Moratuwa Training center. I left home with my dad at 9,
Went to church and when I reached Moratuwa training center it was exactly 9.30. Thinking that I was late I rushed to the reception. To my excitement there was a long queue with about 80 people in front. By asking from a person in the queue I got to know that they all have come to attend the interview and they are from the tie slot 9.30. I too joined the queue and few more people came after me as well. But there were about another hundred waiting for the next slot. By looking at the queue I thought that there is a high possibility for me to get rejected. Because most of them were my seniors at my campus and also pass outs. So I thought that they will be given priority.

First I was sent to two ladies to get doubled checked my certificates copies with the original. Then again I had to wait about for one hour in another place. There they had
Several panel with two board members. One by one the candidates were sent to the panels and each were like questioned for about 20 to30 minutes. When the time was
Moving I got more and more tensed because I was wondering what will they ask and how good I will be in answering and stuff. As getting a job here was my dream I didn't wanted to perform bad. Finally my turn came and I went in. There were two engineers (as what I guessed, but not so sure) in the panel. They asked few questions from me which I managed to answer very well. To my luck I got very simple questions. I got few tech questions and more were like to test my attitude. It was like to check my willingness to work, about my communication skills, willingness to learn new things and so forth. When I was entering the room I was so tensed and when the questions were thrown I got more confidence. And I was interviewed for about 20 to 25 minutes. And then I was said that if I'm selected I'll be called for an exam. I walked off with the hope that I will be selected and I was also praying god that I should get through.

Note:
After few weeks I got a telegram from SLT saying that I have been selected for the second interview. I was extremely happy.
