Smoking should be banned in all public places

Nowadays many people smoke in public places very often. This is because maybe they aren't aware of the effects of smoking. I think as a coin has two sides this topic also has both for and against arguments.

Firstly I would like to look into the favorable side. As the results of a lot of reserach, people say that a smoke-free environment helps a person to be very healthy. They not only help to reduce the long-term dangers of second hand smoking but, they also make life more pleasant. Smoking can cause many dangerous diseases such as lung cancer and heart attacks. It is observed that the number of patients admitted to the hospital due to smoking -related illness has dropped a lot in a smoke free area. But at the same time there weren't any changes in other normal areas. Doctors say that every year they spent a lot of money to treat people who get illa by amoking.

Another point in favor of this is that smoking in public should violate the mind of the children. As everyone knew people of all ages visit public places. Smoking plays an enormous role in making cigarette smoking appealing and attractive to kids. Children easily adopt habiths good or bad from elders. And when they see elders smoking they also try to do that without knowing the bad effects. A smoker can be easily identified among non-smokers from his appearance. For he'll have dark colored lips and eyes which looks ugly(Note that some non smokers also have this kind of appearence due to some other reasons).

When looking into the against arguments firstly, we should think that smokers also have feeling too. It is their body. They are smoking. Mean while they didn't ask others or force others to smoke. Just because a person sees a smoker he will not get addicted. As we all know when we try to force a person not to do a thing, then he'll intend do it again. At last this can end up in chaos. In my view point banning smoking in public places would induce them to smoke in secret. The government should have special programs to make smokers be aware of the bad side of smoking. In one way if the government ban smoking in all public places the number of smokers will definitely reduce and as the result government may get economically affected. The government gets a lot of tax from importing and exporting tobacco and cigarettes. So banning smoking in public places also might effect the economy of the country.

From my point of view I would like to say that smoking should be banned in all public places. Though it's one's own wish to choose smoking or not anyway the environment shouldn't induce a person to get addicted to a habit. In conclusion I would say that a smoke-free environment will definitely be a gift to this world, as smoking may be a great threat to this wonderful world.

OH LEADERS!

OH LEADERS!

fly the skies, my friends,
As the bird
Soar in heaven, my friend,
With your words,
And your deeds, my friends,
Be a Leader, my friend!

Time and time again many a child has left out or ordered about, while another child leads the march or the games. This didn't happen because the left out child was less brainy or the preceding child was more intelligent. It only happened because of the presiding child knew the tactfulness of leadership, while the left out child didn't know that. Remeber, leadership isn't a talent with which one is born.
"Leaders are not born, they are made"
is a popular saying.

A true leader is very responsible, but quite easy going. He or she should be quite creative so that they know the art as to what to do if anything goes wrong. A leader should have the talent of making people listen to and obey to but should not be too demanding. Leadership takes man a llong way. A true leader blazes his way to success at the speed of light. Abraham Lincoln did not win black's their freedom because the white people loved blacks. No! He did it because he was a true leader. Winston Churchill didn't win the war because his country had a large amount of resoouirces. He won it because he was a true leader.

"The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow". Every President, every King was a child at his early age. This is why nowadys schools seperate children into different groups and nominate leaders. This way every child gets an early chance to practice leadership, so that when the right moment comes to the child does not panic but acts his part victoriously. Everyone gets a chance to be a leader, but many do not take much interest of it or uphold and face the challenges to become a leader. We should neer miss a chance for leadership, as it is the chance of a life time that does not come every day.

Raise your hand
You're a Leader
Be a man
You'll be greater

Through flame and fire
Through hardships and leadership
Be a flame to shine in darkness
Guide your men for peace and tranquility

Raise your hand and
Be a leader

LEADERSHIP

The word prefect rings a bell in every student's life. Becoming a prefect is a long felt dream of any student. The best ones with outstanding talents are chosen and given badges. I feel is the highest honor to us by our school. The prefect system was introduced in Sri Lanka during the British rule.

Prefects play a very important role in school. They stand shoulder to shoulder with the teachers to maintain discipline daily, at school and at functions. Prefects upload the traditions of the school, which are given to them by their seniors. Prefects should remain loyal to the school, respecting the rules and regulations that govern them and carry out their duties diligently. They should work hard for higher students’ ideals and should make their institution more beautiful than when it was handed over to them.

Prefects are "Pupil leaders". These leaders must have certain qualities. Punctuality is very important. To maintain punctuality they should learn time management. A good prefect also should be initiative and must have the ability to address a gathering without any preparations. They should be intelligent, be ready to make sacrifice and be an example to others so that others will follow their foot steps.

The prefects' body should be very united and co-operative. They must be effective team members and managers. Prefects must be controlled and truthful and be confident in what ever they discharge. A prefect should understand students' psychology. Kind words are hundred times better than rude punishments. You should keep in mind that you are also a student. You must not enforce another person to do something what you will never do.

Prefects should always be alert and conscious of their duty. Our key broth should be decency, discipline and decorum. Becoming a prefect is not an easy task. There is great competition among the students to get this badge, so he/she must never misuse his/her power and duty. Prefects are held in high esteem by the students. It is a very responsible position. So prefects should always take care about what they are doing and what they are going to do. Never ask 'what this school can do for you?' but 'what we can do to this school?'

In conclusion I would like to say that prefects must promote the level of discipline and must help the administration of their school. A good prefect will definitely be a good and effective leader not only in school but also in the community too.

LEADERS ARE NOT BORN
THEY ARE MADE.
